Dr. Alexander J. Tatem specializes in Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine. He is originally from Savannah, Georgia. He enjoys traveling with his wife, hiking, snowboarding, photography, and spending time with friends and family. He joined Urology of Indiana in August of 2019.
Professional Positions
Dr. Tatem is a distinguished member of the Andrology community having published more than 20 peer manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented award-winning research in the fields of both male fertility and sexual medicine at several international meetings. He is an active member of both the Sexual Medicine Society of North America and the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction where he serves on outreach committees for both organizations. He helped establish Indiana’s first fertility preservation program for young patients facing cancer treatment at Riley Hospital for Children where he still serves. Education
Dr. Tatem graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia where he was a HOPE scholar and he received his B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his internship in General Surgery followed by his residency in Urology at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He then elected to pursue advanced training with a fellowship in Male Fertility, Microsurgery, and Sexual Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
